Die Schwabbel

I imagine it's recommended to make a reservation for the tables inside. It was a weeknight but lovely weather and there were no tables available inside the boat. We were able to sit outside on their dock area. Quick service (by EU standards) nice local wine served along with a few cocktail style drinks. I had one there previously that was refreshing made with Lillet (I do not think they serve hard liquor) The Currywurst is quite good. It comes with fresh delicious multigrain brotchen (small roll)

Since this Restaurant offers a tractor tour in the wine yards, I write this review here… After 3 months of planning the 80th Birthday of my father in law, the date arrived. The plan was to have some cocktails and finger food before jumping in the Schlemmerrundfahrt, from Schwabbel, in Walluf. My wife and I, Mexicans living in Germany for 5 years, were planning a memorable celebration for him. His brother and his wife, travelled with him from Mexico City, to Wiesbaden. We showed them the Bayerisch beauty during one week and afterwards it was the turn for Rheinland-Pfalz and Hessen. We went to a restaurant near the meeting point of the tractor. Five minutes before our appointment, at 20:00 hrs., I checked for the Wagen. Nothing was there waiting, prepared or at minimum, indicated. I went back into the restaurant again to ask if they knew where the meeting point was and they showed me precisely in front, a garage with a tractor inside. The place was only indicated as a Weingut. It was 20:05 and I asked a guy who was putting trash in the containers if that was the place. He started yelling and complaining about me being late. Then a lady came out and kindly asked me (in English, since I don’t understand German-screams) what the problem was. I explained and she told me I didn't show up and the group of 10 people was not there. I clarified that we were complete and ready in the restaurant in front. She asked the man, who denied in a really bad attitude, closing the garage gate and throwing the trash into the container. She apologized and asked me to cancel. I returned to the restaurant completely embarrassed, explaining that the tour was canceled. I am extremely sad and disappointed about the destruction of the plan from a guy which I still don’t believe how he dares to speak in such a way, not only to a person, but to a customer. All the planning effort was for nothing. I ask myself if the Pandemic didn’t teach anything about the meaning of the customer for the service industry. My God! It takes years and effort to win a reputation and make a name out of a business; it is unbelievable how some people don't care to destroy it in seconds, even affecting the image of a country. I hope they could double think in future that events are not only representing money, but looking for memorable moments.
